Empowering the Next Generation of Mental Health Leaders in Liberia

A Direct Response to the Mental Health Workforce Gap through a Collaborative Training Initiative

Liberia faces a critical shortage of mental health professionals, leaving most communities without care. The Mental Health Peer Training Program, launched in partnership with HealthTech Liberia, is a bold step toward closing that gap—starting now.

This hybrid program empowers youth and frontline workers with practical, evidence-based tools to support emotional well-being, provide peer support, and identify early signs of distress in their schools and communities.

How the Program Makes an Immediate Difference:

  • Builds a grassroots mental health workforce using accessible, evidence-based training

  • Equips peer leaders with real-world tools to provide emotional support, promote well-being, and recognize warning signs early

  • Bridges the treatment gap by embedding trained leaders into schools, workplaces, and communities

Together, 4C’s digital learning platform and HTL’s deep community ties make this a scalable, sustainable model—transforming lives and strengthening Liberia’s future.
